Who We Are
The Turkish National Olympic Committee (TMOK) is a non-profit, volunteer-based, autonomous organization working for the public benefit. With a history spanning over a century, it is one of the most established stakeholders in Turkish sports and a leading institution dedicated to the development of sports in Turkey.
TMOK represents the Olympic Movement in Turkey in accordance with the International Olympic Committee’s (IOC) Olympic Charter. As the sole authority in Turkey, it handles the participation of Turkish athletes in various IOC-sanctioned sports events including the Summer and Winter Olympic Games, Youth Olympic Games, European Games, European Youth Olympic Festivals, and Mediterranean Games, as well as matters related to Turkey’s bids for hosting the Olympic Games.
Focused on making sports an integral part of life—especially for children and youth—TMOK works towards a future where Turkey is internationally recognized as a successful sporting nation through the values of friendship, respect, and excellence.
TMOK is athlete-focused. It supports promising young athletes with Olympic-level potential in every possible way and includes an Athlete Commission within its structure to further enhance its support initiatives. Moreover, TMOK contributes to the development of coaches, support staff, administrators, and sports managers who play critical roles in nurturing talent.
The organization encourages early adoption of a sporting culture, fostering physical, mental, and social development through sports while promoting mutual respect, solidarity, fair play, and environmental awareness. Its efforts also include boosting public awareness of sports, widening sports participation, and giving special attention to girls and women—promoting gender equality in sports and sports management.
In line with the anti-doping regulations of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), TMOK plays an active role in protecting clean athletes by collaborating with stakeholders across Turkey in the fight against doping.
As a non-governmental organization for public benefit, all TMOK’s activities revolve around sports-centered social responsibility projects. Funded solely through self-generated resources and sponsorships, it rejects all forms of discrimination by upholding principles of equality, diversity, and inclusivity, and works in cooperative partnerships with stakeholders in Turkish sports. TMOK believes that sustainable success can only be achieved when all sporting actors work together in harmony, and it considers its contributions to this synergy a fundamental mission.
